What is the Golden Residency Program?
A permanent residency that offers global professionals, retirees, property investors, and highly talented individuals to build a future in a country where a vibrant economy and a truly welcoming community come together.
How long does it take to process my application?
The application process takes five days for applicants under the employees, property owners, and retirees categories. For applicants under the talent category, the process takes up to ten days.
What are the applicable fees for applying for the Golden Residency?
There is an application fee of BHD 4 (equivalent to USD 10) to submit your Golden Residency application. If approved, there is a residency issuance fee of BHD 300 (equivalent to USD 795).
How can I check the status of my application?
You can check the status of your application through the Golden Residency portal on Bahrain.bh under “Requests and Golden Residencies Visa Management”. For more information, please reach out to us on 17484000.
Can I have multiple residences?
Yes, having other residencies does not impact your eligibility to get the Golden Residency in Bahrain.
Eligibility & Application
Can I apply if I’m self-employed?
Yes, entrepreneurs are welcome to apply.
What documents are required?
- Passport (must be valid for more than 6 months).
- Proof of previous residence (if available).
- Latest 6 Months Bank Statement.
- Valid health insurance certificate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- For property owners: Property deed(s) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with a total value of BHD 200,000 (equivalent to USD 530,555) and over at the time of purchase
- For non-resident retirees: Proof of basic salary is BHD 4,000 (equivalent
to USD 10,624) or more per month. - For resident employees and retirees: Proof of average basic salary is BHD 2,000 (equivalent to USD 5,306) or more in the last five years of residency.
- For talent: Copy of documents proving your is talent is required. This includes documents, certifications or portfolios.
Family & Dependents
Can my parents join under my residency?
Yes, Golden Residency holders can sponsor their dependents including spouse, parents, and children.
What about schooling options for children?
Bahrain offers a wide range of educational opportunities, catering to both local and international students. The Kingdom is home to excellent public and private schools, with curricula including British, American, International Baccalaureate (IB), and other international systems to meet the needs of all families.
For higher education, Bahrain boasts several renowned universities and institutions, offering programs in fields such as business, STEM, law, and medicine. These include the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic, and international campuses like RCSI Bahrain and the American University of Bahrain.
What are the fees associated with sponsoring dependents under my Golden Residency?
The Golden Residency fees are the same for both applicants and their dependents. Each dependent is subject to an application fee of BHD 4 (equivalent to USD 10) and a residency issuance fee of BHD 300 (equivalent to USD 795).
Is there an age limitation for my family (dependents) or parents?
No, there is no age limit for your family or parents.

Does the Golden Residency allow me to work in Bahrain?
The Golden Residency will allow you to be located in Bahrain and explore employment opportunities. However, you still need to obtain a work permit from Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) to be able to work in Bahrain.
Does obtaining a Golden Residency terminate an already active Work Visa?
No, it does not terminate an active Work Visa. This means that the new Golden Residency holder may still work under their work permit until its expiration, at which point it will have to be renewed again following the same process.
